Was on my computer when I dropped my phone on it. Wasn’t hard, just bounced off the floor and tapped my computer. I guess it knocked out one of the RAM sticks and my system gave me a pretty loud error noise. After 20 mins of placing the RAM sticks back into my motherboard it finally gave me a display again. I hard reset my computer as well. Should I be worried about any potential damage this may have caused?

I would hope that the computer would survive that sort of tap without any permanent damage. Likely the RAM module was already loose.

Takes a pretty solid hit to knock out a fully slotted and secured RAM module. And such a hit would likely do other damage as well.

However, there is no certainty in such things and all the more so with how things are designed, built, etc....

My recommendation: regular backups.

Backup everything at least 2 x to locations away from the computer. Ensure that the backups are recoverable and readable.

Which should be SOPs anyway.....
