Ram issues

Here's the deal.

ECS K7VMA mobo, AMD Duron 800, 128MB PC133, Win98SE

No matter what the system only reckognizes 24 MB of ram. I have tried four diferent sticks of ram, updated the BIOS, read through the manual, can't figure it out.

Built on video is set to use 8MB of ram, so I guess the system is really seeing 32MB but still that is only 25% of what is available.

About to go ballistic! ANy ideas?

What kind of RAM does your Mobo require? Hi-Density or Low-Density? There are a number of things to look at when you buy ram. I'm not familure with your motherboard but I do know that AMD Processors like fast ram. CAS 2 rated. Did you say that you have an Integrated Video Card? I feel for you. I'd go out and get your self a GeForce or something and disable the onboard video. You also want to look at the chip settup. I'm thinking double sided ram is for the older motherboards and single sided for newer motherboards. Is that a Socket 1 Motherboard? Oh well I hope that helps you.

Oh there is also a possibility that the ram is toasted. Get a ram diagnostic utility and test your ram.

Turned out to be a defective motherboard.

Hey guy I just threw out some suggestions. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with ram and I pointed out a few of them. If you had a lot of insight why didn't you post your suggestions. Or are you just here to give people grief? The only reason you have got yourself a high rating is for posting nonsense. Posting stuff like what you posted to me just tells me that your not even an intellectual, you just found a forum you can hang out and get a few laughs for your demented little warped brain. I know it's an old post. It just made me angry when I read his stupidity. It's a good thing he got the boot. There can be enough flamebate in here (especially in the cpu section).
