Hello guys.

My friend has 3GB of RAM at the moment. He has another 512 mb but he hasn't used that 512 mb.He wants to add that 512 mb to 3GB so he can have 3,5 GB.His motherboard has 4 slots 2 in one color 2 in other color which means Dual Channel.

He has 1x 2GB in Slot #1 and 1x 1GB in Slot # 3. What does he need to do so he can have 3,5GB? He tried adding that 512mb but his PC couldn't start.

His motherboard is msi p31 neo and CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 2.4 ghz. He said that he couldn't change the DRAM voltage because his BIOS wouldn't let him do it. Any other solutions ? He just wants to have 3.5 GB of RAM.Will it work if he adds another additional 512mb ram so he'll have 4x DIMM slots used and 4 GB total RAM memory or there is another solution for him to have 3,5 GB RAM ?

Can try different sticks, but if they won't play they simply won't play, generally one can often get then to play with voltage/timing adjustments, the 775 msi p31 neo was considered an enthusiast mobo, so shouldn't have a locked BIOS unless maybe it was used in a prebuilt system

Ok he managed to rise the Memory Voltage for 0.05 but that didn't help. He also tried rising NB Voltage from 1.250 to 1.300 but also nothing. He's not getting signal on monitor at all. His 512mb ram slot is 667 mhz and single-sided while other rams (2gb slot and 1gb slot) are 800mhz and double-sided. Does it mean that double-sided can't work with single-sided rams? And how about the frequencies? Do they need to be the same ?
