Question Ram not being read by Mothb

My friend is building a pc and everything seems to be working perfectly fine except for the ram, we have tried using only one stick in each slot and we are still getting the red ram light on the motherboard. The leds on the ram are even lighting up and working but we are still not getting any video signal and the troubleshooting light is on and we are completely stuck.
