RAM NOT RECOGNIZED!!

on my windows 7 PC i have 1gb of ddr2 ram installed and recently i bought another stick of the same exact type of ram DDR2 PC2-5300 Unbuffered and when i try using both sticks of 1gb only one is recognized but when i use my new RAM I bought on it own. they dont seem to work with each other.

any replys will be greatly appreciated

It is not recommended to mix different RAM modules for precisely this reason.

Can you provide us with the specifications of your existing RAM modules and the ones that you purchased?

Existing:
DDR2 PC2-5300 667Mhz Unbuffered 1GB (NOT SURE WHAT MAKE) RAM

New:
DDR2 PC2-5300 Unbuffered HYNIX 1GB RAM

oh and both are for a desktop pc so 240 pin modules

Test the RAM modules individually (only one installed at a time) and see if that helps

yes both of them work individually when i go to computer then properties they both show 1gb so they work fine when they are on there own but not when they are together

Bios update? If doesn't work try differnent ram

Did u check the slot?
by using 1 stick and try each slot, to rule out slot failure (or just dust piling up)

thanks for the replys i just went on cpu-z and it says i have 2048mb of ram installed
