Lo...Been awhile since I posted.
Have a Ram Question?
My system is:
Cheiftec Dragon Heavily Modified Tower.
Vantec Stealth 520W Psu
Radeon 9700 Pro
Asus P4b533 with Ipanel Monitor
Intel 2.4b clocked at 2.7 Water Cooled
Audigy2 platinum
2 120 gig maxtor 7200 drives
Plextor 52/24/52
Creative ovation dvd
Leadtec Tv/Fm tuner
2 gig of Geil pc2700 Ram
6 thermaltake temperature sensored fans 3-intake 3-outake

I am wanting to upgrade to Asus p4c800 mobo with a 3.06c processor.
Can I run the pc2700 on the new mobo and processor?
or switch up to 3200 ram?
I am a heavy Gamer, but try to salvage what I can when I upgrade? Any help would be apreciated.

If it were me i would sell the ram you have and buy pc3500, this will give you some room for overclocking and also a possible future upgrade, if you try and OC your pc2700 to pc3200 you might not make it, however it may make it with a copper heatsink, but it shouldnt hurt to try either way.

I hope this helps.

Cool! That is what I am running pc2700 ultra ram with copper heatsinks. I bought a additionl small fan for the ram incase I would ever need it. Rite now I am running the ram at stock timing of CAS 2.5-2-2 1T. I am going to the MML next weekend, so want everything to be ready. This will be my first major lan party. :)

They never made a 3.06c its 3.0c, either way its a nice proc. Thats one sweet system. About the mem, you prolly could make it to 3200, but you would maybe have to relax your timmings and/or increase their voltage. Either way if you wana overclock your best bet is to go with pc3200 or possibly pc3500, stay away from 3700, your cpu probably will never hit those speeds and the memory timmings suck anyways.

This is kinda a bit off topic... but if you want a Pentium at 3GHz+ buy the 2.4C. You will save money and get the same performance. It is almost guaranteed to oc to 3+. If you don't believe me just do a search on the net.
