[SOLVED] ram speed "limit" on my i7?

according to intel
my core-i710700k-processor has a limit of DDR4-2933
intel specs

but my friend is running the same processor with 2x8gb on 3200mhz

when i asked how he said he didnt even know and just bought within his budget.

how is this possible and does this mean i can just buy whatever my MB (ASRock Z490 Steel legend) supports?
