My pc has 2 1GB of ram that filled up 2 slots out of 4 on my motherboard (total 2 gb ram). I bought another single 2 ram chip and when i tried using all three at the same time i have lines on my screen and my audio doesn't work. I tried updating the drivers with no success. I also tried switching up the order of the ram but this also failed. The only way my pc works properly is when only 2 of my 4 slots are used in any combination of ram therefore i am not using one of my ram chips.

So do i need to buy another ram chip to fill up the 4 the slot or do is there anything else i can do.
By the way my motherboard is an Acer f690gvm

Thanks in advance.

Solution
Buy another matching ram stick for your 2 gb. Running 3 out 4 ram slots never works well. You'll lose your dual channel speed and as you've seen, have other issues. You can sell your old ram to help pay for it. 4 gb is plenty, and is all windows 32 bit will utilize. My versions only recognize 3.25 gb out of 4.
