While i'm playing "Rocket League" I get a random 1 second stutter every minute or so and it really throws me off especially at a high level I play at. I get max fps 250 and every time it happens it drops to 247 only by 3 and Its like its skipping a frame. If i cap it it still drops no matter where I cap it at. Vsync isn't an option because of the input lag.

The weirdest thing is when I mess with some settings then my computer runs fine rarely stuttering. Then the next day its back to stuttering like normal. Whats the problem here I don't understand.

$50 Paypal to the person that helps 100% serious this has been happening for to long. Please help.

Things I've tried. (Definitely will miss some i have tried so many things)

Reinstalling Windows 10

Reinstalling my drivers

High performance on power options

Set it so my hard drive doesnt stop spinning

Windows 10 Optimization Videos {This helped the most but sill happens}

Tried another 60hz monitor

Lower settings still happens

Bios up to date

Playing without internet and sound

Ryzen 1600
GTX 1060
8 GB 2133
AB350M-HDV
1TB 7200
500W EVGA

The sector thing you mention isn't quite right, but close. Basically data is rotated around the ssd to eliminate just what you describe, one of the reasons why you must leave at a certain percentage of the drive open, not just for windows use with superfetch or prefetcher, but so data can be moved by block.
Don't use Defrag on an SSD, ever. It messes with Trim and Garbage rotations, and causes unnecessary erases, which considering erases use higher voltage than reads or writes, actually lowers available lifespan of every cell touched.

But yes, with older and smaller drives, it's a good idea to move pagefile to hdd if possible, and totally...
have you tried readyboost (play the game several times with a 16-32GB readyboost so that your game is then put into the readyboost) ?
cheapest problem solving would be to eliminate the possibility of your slow hdd not fetching data for your cpu/gpu quick enough.

Do you think it could be because the hard drive is slow? I have ran hdd tests using hd tune for 2 hours and got no errors. I could try readyboost.

It does it mainly when I load into a game but happens still through out the game. Will getting an ssd fix it?

you cant, programs are written to use only a certain number of cores. Rocket League maybe programed to use only a single core. (which is why intels higher clock speeds are preferable for gaming)

if this is the problem, then the only solution is a cpu upgrade or overclocking. but i would think that this would mean the ryzen is bottlenecking the gpu?

I have tried overclocking to 3.7 it runs stable and it still has the stutter. I'm really getting to think this is a hdd problem because I ran memtest for 2 hours got no errors for my ram. I ran CPU and GPU benchmarks they both seem fine. Also occasionally my videos take a while to open on my computer. I feel like the hdd isn't able to keep up with the amount of frames i'm getting. When I disable Page File and Shader Cache my game stutters alot less then before so does this seem like a hdd problem? I think im going to order a ssd.

The benchmarks and tests do fine. But why is it that when I disable Page File, and Shader Cache it gets rid of 90% of the stutters? I'm not running out of ram 34% used while playing.

pagefile disabled means windows tries to load everything into the RAM (but secretly will create a very small temp pagefile somewhere for file expansion). which is a reason why trying readyboost may have solved your issue - readyboost is much faster than pagefile.

you could try the free ramdisk program, free means its limited to 1GB (pay for unlimited settings). Basically it takes your ram and creates a mounted 'drive partition' which you can use to put your pagefile into (or anything else but remember its a temp/fake drive that disappears when you shut down). as you state you dont use all your RAM, you could use 1 GB to emulate a drive, put a small pagefile in there.

A lot of people dont like ramdisking because its basically taking ram and turning it into pagefile (windows emulated ram dump) so they claim its self defeating, but if you need the speed or security of a temp ram drive and have enough RAM free, its unbeatable. I use it myself as you can see if you mouse over my avatar (though i do have a large amount of RAM because i knew i would be ramdisking).

OK, So I was running into the same problem as you where I was getting micro stutters, plus I first noticed it while playing Rocket League and I kept missing the ball, that REALLY pissed me off. I tried everything like you have from reinstalling drivers to changing v sync settings on the nvidia control panel. None of it works. What you need to do is download MSI After Burner and MSI Kombuster (https://www.msi.com/page/afterburner) and using Kombuster, look at the performance graphs on After Burner, if the CPU usage is high, then you have a bottle-necking problem and time to get a new processor. However, that is unlikely. The reason I was getting Micro Stutters was because my CPU was getting too hot ~70 Celsius. This over heating caused it to stutter. I ordered some new thermal paste and CPU fan and it started working like back to normal.

p.s. If you have ever pirated any games or movies or anything, you may have accidentally downloaded bit miner along with it. This can run your CPU usage way up and also cause stuttering. Check this my downloading process explorer.

Glad to help!

My temps stay really low and I have ran many malware test nothing there.

What version is your nvidia driver?

Latest one

Yeah i ordered one i'm waiting for it to arrive. I bought SAMSUNG 850 EVO 250gb

oh nice! should fix your stuttering problem and bring your boot time down to about 4 seconds!

there is no need to offer cash to any one

if we can fix your problem we do so because we want to help others

if you wish to put 50 dollars to a good cause should some one sort your problem

i humbly suggest donating it to the fund for the member of toms hardware who lost his life in the barcelona terrorist attack

I will donate it to any where I just want this fixed

not familiar with rocket league

is it the only game with a problem?

after midnight here--but will certainly check this thread tomorrow to see if you got sorted

or if not will see if theres any thing i can think of that will help

Honestly could be because you are running a AMD processor but a NVIDIA GPU, usually those should work together like intel and nvidia and AMD with their processor and GPUs.

Smells like a load of dung.
1) SSDs do NOT affect gaming performance AT ALL. It affects LOAD TIMES.
2) There's no such thing as AMD/NVIDIA incompatibility.

OP, is your GTX 1060 a 3GB model? And please reinstall Windows; Windows 10 Optimization doesn't do you much good when you already have a problem.
