I built a computer a few years ago that, despite all parts being compatible and decent for gaming, has never seemed to work right. (Initially just slower processing than expected). Recently, it's been crashing while playing most games (7 Days to Die, Dark and Light, XCOM 2, Hearts of Iron 4, Path of Exile) and went from crashing after an hour or so of playing, to now after only a few minutes. I have tried everything I could think of and could find after a lot of research. Here are the computer specs and a list of what I've tried so far. If anyone has any ideas or can pinpoint the problem, I would greatly appreciate it!
Specs:
Maximus VII Hero MB (which I'm starting to suspect is the problem)
Intel core i7 4790K
Gigabyte GTX 980ti
16g Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram
EVGA 650W psu
2TB sata HD
Huge case, lots of fans and cooling, running dual monitors. I have not overclocked the system.
Running Windows 10 64 bit, upgraded during the free thing from Windows 7
I also have a very similar computer (different MB, G1.Sniper Z87) with the same chipset that I've been swapping parts out of to try and nail the problem.
Tried so far:
Blowing out what minimal dust had accumulated
Running several virus checkers
One at a time, switching the following components - heatsink, PSU, CPU, ram, GPU (swapped for my reliable gtx 660, fixed drivers accordingly each time)
Ran memory test, no red flags
Reset CMOS battery
Fresh install of Windows 10 recently
Checked and updated drivers
Checked and updated Windows
reset the BIOS to default
Updated the BIOS to latest stable build
Redid thermal paste
Checked the dump files and tried to understand them.
Here is the dump file:
