OK guys so my mobo is a p5n-e, my cpu is Core 2 duo e6750, my gpu is a 9800 GTX+, a SSD with my OS on it and BF3 and im running windows 7 64 bit. I just installed 8 gb of adata 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel and now my computer decides to freeze randomly. It just happened while i was playing BF3, does anyone have any idea how i can fix this?

I've actually had this problem before and this is how it started, during games. Honestly idk why it stopped because I had installed ram before, had the same problem, put my old ram back in, still had the problem and it gradually got worse, my comp would freeze/blue screen within two minutes of booting, so I let the comp sit for a few months. I got back to school turned it on and of worked. So I decided to buy ram again and install it, I go to play a tks and about 1 minute in and it freezes. I try again and it froze in 5 sec.

hmmm i took out two sticks so now the two left are far apart and ive been playing for about a half hour with no problems.. i think they were overheating but is there anyway to tell? Before, i touched the sticks right after it had frozen and they seemed pretty hot to me.

Heat should never be a problem with DRAM found outside video cards, whether or not the chips are heatsinked. That A-Data RAM is more likely incompatible or defective, and the presense of the heatsink indicates the latter.

Usually a-data memory upgrades are usually compatible with all kinds of PCs, including all kinds of large brands like Dell, HP, Gigabyte, Asus, etc.
A-Data is one of best memory manufacturers in the world and it is also offered with a lifetime warranty. So I think setting up a new heatsink can only help you.

Any luck bk70?

I had a similar Asus mobo and the RAM I had required 2.2 volts. The auto setting just didn't do anything so I changed it manually to 2.2 and the problem went away.

DON'T change yours to 2.2 volts though. Yours should be 1.8 volts.

I hope I'm not stating the obvious here but I'm a noob.
