Been dealing with a problem for some time now and am very peaved.

My computer randomly restarts.

Put together a computer with the ff. specs:
i7-4770 CPU @ 3.50 Ghx
8.00 GB RAM
64 bit OS - Windows 7

Power Supply is Thunder M 620 W
Hooked to an AVR
No UPS

It got really bad today randomly restarting twice every hour.
NO BSOD, Computer wasn't really being loaded with rendering or anything like that.

Initially thought it might be a software problem but I'm doubting that now.

Solution
That very well could be the reason.
If your going to to get a new PSU go with a good quality one so the are minimal interruptions.
Please rate my post as a solution so others with the same problem can figure out how to fix their problem.

Thanks :)

Hi, Mrunited12, it's an Asus Nvidia GEFORCEGTX 680. Computer is pretty new, about a year old, didn't scrimp on any parts when I had it put together.

I think your system is short on power and you might need an upgrade to your PSU to around 700 watts.

I could be wrong but contact SR-71 Blackbird he is the power supply master and will be able to tell you if you need to upgrade your PSU

Thanks,

Will do, i feel like that's one major consideration. Thanks!

Though I'm also wondering if milliseconds of power interruptions could be the cause of this. (thing is, I don't have any more money to get both a new PSU and UPS.)

Getting excited that PSU might very well be the issue... though, I'm not excited about the additional expense. Will update on solution when I've gotten to test it and it works.

Will have to give it some time since, my computer doesn't do this all the time, it just got really bad this morning. On most other days, it doesn't, or will just do so a few times.

My readings online do point to either PSU or UPS though so will update this thread. :)
