Random reboots caused by undervolted CPU?

Recently I undervolted my CPU, and I can boot into the system and everything. I can play games and on load and everything. But, recently I left the PC on for around 2 hours because I was downloading a game, when I came back I opened up steam and was checking the download, in the middle the screen just froze and I couldnt move theouse or anything, the PC rebooted about 1-2 seconds later.

Could this be a problem with the undervolting I did with the CPU or with something else?

Yes this can be caused by undervolting. Some mobos have different overclocking options that let you set a base voltage, and an offset when it is actually being used (vs idle).

You might consider the voltage that you picked as a failure for the experiment. Pick a slightly higher voltage and see if it happens again.

Sounds like you may have undervolted a bit too much. Just bump your voltage up slightly, and you should be alright.

Ok, so I set the mono to stock just now and the PC still restarted. Now, I looked around the web and some people said to check the minidump folder in windows. Sure enough, there were files that were created at the exact times of the restarts, so is this a software problem? And how may I be able to fix this? Do I open the minidump files and see what errors they are giving?

I checked the minidump files and they are saying its a "fatal hardware issue" and the it might be caused by overheating. I recently installed a 212 evo and the problem started there after. BUT, the CPU temps whenever the PC reboots are normal. Do you think it might be because I didn't place the thermal paste properly, or seat the heatsink properly? Also, could this happen because the CPU is no inserted into the slot properly? Because I also had to take out the CPU. Please help, I'm really worried
