Random Restart?!?

The following does not happen all of the time but very randomly. It doesn't hurt my system in any way but it is very annoying. My system will restart on its on sometimes. Like I said it doesn't happen all of the time and I can go days without it happening at all. The following is an error in my event viewer under the system option.

I get this error a lot in my event viewer but my computer doesn't always restart. Very wierd!!

Intel PIII 1GHz (OC'ed to 1.13GHz)
512MB SDRAM
Abit BX-133-RAID
GF2 GTS PRO
SB Live
NIC 10/100 (generic brand)
430W Antec "True Power" Power Supply (Brand New)
40GB WD HD 7200 RPM
120GB WD HD 7200 RPM
TDK 32x10x40 CD-RW
Creative 52X CD-ROM

I can't figure out the problem at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I also forgot to add that I have an Uninteruptable Power Supply that sometimes makes a wierd noise and goes off for a second. I think this is whay my pc is restarting. It's been happening more often now. Is this a sign that my UPS is starting to go?

Is your motherboard ACPI Complient? I have a MSI K7T-Turbo that has a KT133A chipset that wasn't fully. I had errors out the yeng-yang in my event viewer until I updated the BIOS. That took care of those error's but I never had problems with random rebooting.

I think there's an update at the <A HREF="http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com" target="_new">Windows Update</A> site in regards to a UPS, if you haven't checked lately.

Plus, see if you've unchecked "Automatically Restart" under:
<font color=green>System Properties > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery > Settings</font color=green>

And, that BIOS flash doesn't sound like a bad idea.

I'll try both of your suggstions but I think my UPS is still starting to go bad. I did download the UPS patch for XP already. But I'll check the automatic restart option. I think the UPS is almost 5 yrs old. I got it from my old job.

It is probably that it's old, the system needs new and better UPS to handle the energy inside.
