Well not really random I guess...
When I switch the PC on in the morning, it starts up for five minutes then shuts down.
I switch off the switch at the back....wait 30 mins, then reboot.
It stays activated for @ 40 mins then shuts down again....
Sometimes i restart after this and it stays on all day. Then shuts down overnight.

My suspicion is MB or PSU.

PC is 15 years old. When it works it's great.

My question is this.
Are there any utilities that can track if the problem with the PSU or MB?

I would replace either.

PSU replacement is in order. No matter what PSU you have, no PSU should ever be used 15 years straight.

Without full system specs, i can't suggest proper wattage, but good PSUs to go for, are: Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium.

(My 3x PCs are also powered by Seasonic. I have 2x PRIME TX-650 units and one Focus PX-550 unit. Full specs with pics in my sig.)

No.

No such software for sure.

For PSUs, there is PSU testing equipment out there but you'd be looking at least $3000 for those. Proper setup would cost $10.000 or so.

As for MoBo, only way to validate it, is to use everything else, known to work, on it. This means: CPU, RAM, PSU, GPU, SSD/HDD. Once you've replaced all that with 2nd, compatible and known to work hardware and build still acts up - then you can say it is MoBo issue, since MoBo would be only original component in the build.
