Hi, I am so fed up with my computer I am about to just give up on it. So about a month ago I tried an upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and guess what it failed! So I tried about 5 more times and same thing happened every time it gets stuck at 24%. And after it finished reverting back to 7 my computer became all sluggish and slow it booted up slow my icons and my gadgets and my whole computer froze up for about 10 seconds before everything would finally kick in. So I gave up on trying to upgrade from my current version of Windows. So I made an image of my current SSD onto another Hard drive in case I need files off of it or anything else. So the best conclusion to me was do a nice fresh install... Everything seemed great.... at least while installing. Once I got to the desktop and got (almost) all the drivers installed I put all my gadgets back and I only have about 8 icons on my desktop I get some of my basic my programs back, Spotify, Firefox and Steam and to my surprise I restart my computer only to find out my boot times are still not near as fast as they were my icons (yes only 8!) I thought were better at first they were already loaded in then after about 15 seconds they flash, go away they slowly start loading back. As for my gadgets the weather one appears and my CPU usage ones take about 25 seconds to appear and I am all comparing this to my old install of Windows where everything was instant to appear but then was made the same way my new installs are going all because of a failed Windows 10 upgrade. Okay so you may think "ohh icons and gadgets are not a big deal" well My CPU is constantly spiking around but usually hover around 27% and my RAM sits at about 6 GB constant! Also to make everything worse Windows Update decides that it just doesn't feel like working! I have no clue if this is a program installed that makes this happen but it will be a wish come true if I can get my computer back to how it was! Thank You

Do a fresh install of W10 with your 8 key. That still works as far as i know.

Here's list of the steps to take for the best results:

Download the Media Creation Tool from here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10/ and make a bootable USB wiht it.

Get the latest drivers from here: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25165/Intel-Rapid-Storage-Technology-Intel-RST-RAID-Driver?product=55005
File: f6flpy-x64.zip. Unzip it to a folder on a USB drive(it can be the one with windows on it).

Disconnect all other drives except the one you are installing to.

Go into the BIOS and disable "CSM" and enable "Secure boot" in the Boot section.

Start the install and when it asks where to install hit "have disk" and point it to the folder you put the above files in.

**WARNING: THE FOLLOWING WILL WIPE AND ENTIRE DISK, NOT JUST A PARTITION**

Then hit SHIFT+F10 and:
diskpart
list disk
select disk x(where x is the drive in case)
clean
convert gpt
exit
exit

Hit refresh, select the clean drive, and the "new". Windows will create several partition and auto-select the correct one to install to(you can also set the size of the partition after hitting "new", but you don't need to if you are using the whole drive).

But I don't want Windows 10.

RAM I still have no clue, but for processor it seems to be something called svchost.exe I can't seem to find it in task manger though.

Yes, you do.

hmm I had a similar problem with a friend's computer, svchost.exe would use the CPU more than it should, turned out to be the windows update services downloading win10 but due to some weird glitch it got stuck thus raising the CPU use.

Try windows + R- > type services.msc, in the new window search for windows updates and stop its service, see if that frees up your CPU.

Okay I contacted Microsoft support and they somehow got Windows update to work which! also fixed the high CPU and RAM usage thank goodness! But the remaining problems include slow than normal boot times and icons, gadgets and all the mini icons down in the bottom right corner where action center and volume appears is also very slow when logging on which on my old install of Windows everything was already loaded in when I logged on so if its possible to fix that it would be great!

Well honestly I have already tried Windows 10 and was loving it then... Some of my Steam games wouldn't work AND it made my RAM usage very high so its not for me.

Do yourself a favor and take some good advice when you get it. W10 is a far superior OS, faster, more stable and less resource intensive, if you do a fresh install. Do not compare a pure windows install like your 7 is to the result of upgrading from one OS to another.
And your steam games would probably work atleast.in compatibility mode. Google each of them and see.
As a sidenote, look at what is planned for the next W10 update: http://www.tomshardware.com/news/microsoft-build-14942-ends-svchost-ram,32832.html
Note that that will increase ram usage slightly compared to W10, not W7.

Yes I know I have a separate install of Windows 10 on another SSD and its not an upgrade I ended up using it again and gave up on 7 the only problem is I had to move the install around by cloning drives and I think it may have slowed it down some.

Proper cloning shouldn;t have slowed it. Regardless, why do you still cling to W7?

Because I trusted 7 to not fail on me because I never EVER had any issues with it until now and how many of my friends had problems after getting 10 but its working well now just still sometimes when I boot up my mouse cursor starts lagging and some icons still have to load in I just remember right before I started having issues with 7 everything loaded in the instant I logged on. Who knows maybe my computers just dying.
