That is a solid build and I give it a 10, especially if this was all your budget. I would recommend playing at least on 1440p, not this ancient so two thousand and late 1080p. Otherwise it is just a waste.

remove 65$ from MOBOs price add it for CPU remove 10 $ from ram and get 1600Mhz and you will get i5 4690K, decent 70$ ASus MOBO z97 and overal System that scores 30% more then the previous

DVD drive is ugly.

Seriously though, an i5 would be a better investment. I just can't recommend an AM3 platform with how old that socket is. I can't imagine AMD will continue to use it when they finally make a new CPU. I surprised it has survived this long, but I suppose they haven't really come out with a new CPU in several years.

The 8350 isn't horrible, but using one for a $1400 isn't recommended. if you need multitasking, you might even be able to stick in a 6-core i7 for that much $$$.

Well the 980 is awesome, I just feel like it's overpriced. You could crossfire two R9 290 for $480 or two 290x for $560. Either setup would outperform a single 980 by a long shot. 16GB of RAM is really unnecessary.

What is better about the xeon core than the i5?

The 1231v3 is basically an i7 4770 without integrated graphics. I am not a fan of overclocking so I'd rather have the hyperthreading for cheaper.
