some ancient socket 7 mobo with via chipset
64 megs edo RAM (72 pin simms)
1 Meg Trident 8900 ISA video card
Realtek 10 baseT NIC
Quad Speed CD-ROM drive
1.6 gig WD Caviar HD
3.5"/5.25" floppy combo drive
200W AT power supply

so whaddya think? hehe. I got all the parts from a computer salvage store for 1 dollar each! Right now its just sitting on my desk running without a case. Talk about power! Had to pull all my old knowledge from back in the day to get this beast runnin. Anyway, it was a lot of fun. Just thought id give you guys a throwback to the good ol days of jumper city.

*shudder*

That reminds me of DOS and Win 3.x days.... Not pleasent memories, though setting up batch programs in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files to make certain games run was fun. Gads... I was 10 or so.... now I feel really old at 20!

Just a local computer salvage place called Rayco Computers. (springfield, MO) They always tell people, "if you get something that works, don't tell anyone; you'll ruin our reputation."
Theres always someone on ebay selling simms for fairly cheap.

I just paid $5 for a Dell Pentium 166 system. I'll put a modem and 233MMX in it and sell it for $100 to someone as an internet terminal. So who gets ripped off?

BTW, they had a bunch of 1 year old Gateway PIII systems for $25 also, a few months ago. And a bunch of laptops.

cool.

but isn`t warcraft a dos game?

i mean, a 486dx4-100 can handle that.

by the way, what does PR200 mean? fast as a pentiumMMX 200?

Dude, Modem $15, Soundcard $5, Speakers $5, Keyboard $6, Mouse $4, Shipping $16, Computer $5. So that's $51. I sell it for $100 and bring home $90. That's only $39 profit.

Im going nuts. soon i will have no money left for my good computer!

"by the way, what does PR200 mean? fast as a pentiumMMX 200?"

Heck no. That is a Cyrix and they made the PR rating infamous. It would be way slower then a pMMX 200. Perhaps one of the other members can tell you exactly how much slower.

I think the PR200 ran at 3x 50MHz, so it was almost twice as fast as a Pentium 75! And MMX made the Pentium even faster still. So, the PR200 always has sucked
