So for a while i have been going on the internet and searching good builds for $3000 so i wanted you guys (who are infinitely wiser than me at these subjects) to rate my $3000 PC build

CPU: Intel Core i7-3820 Quad-Core Processor 3.6 GHz 10 MB Cache LGA 2011 - BX80619I73820 ( I don't know if any processors are actually better than this unless your editing videos or something like that)

Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79 LGA 2011 Intel X79 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard (I like the BIOS on this thing a lot)

RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CML16GX3M2A1600C10) (decided might as well go for 16 GIGS on a $3000 budget)

GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX TITAN SuperClocked Signature 6GB GDDR5 384-Bit, Dual-Link DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI,DP, SLI Ready Graphics Card 06G-P4-2793-KR ( Go big or go home)

HDD: Seagate Desktop HDD 4 TB SATA 6Gb/s NCQ 64MB Cache 3.5-Inch Internal Bare Drive ST4000DM000 X2 (Gonna RAID 0 this)

SSD: Crucial m4 512GB 2.5-Inch (9.5mm) SATA 6Gb/s Solid State Drive CT512M4SSD2 ( I'm gonna move the boot drives and steam to this. Note: Might RAID 0 this later)

PSU:XFX 850w XXX Edition Semi-Modular Power Supply ( This comes with all the cables right?)

Optical drive (OD?): Asus Black 12X BD-ROM 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA Internal Blu-Ray Drive (BC-12B1ST) (Not much to say here just a blu ray drive)

Cooling system: Corsair Hydro Series H80 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler (CWCH80) ( I decided to forgo a heat sync fan for an easy to install liquid cooling system.)

Case: Corsair Obsidian Series Black 800D Full Tower Computer Case (CC800DW) ( I know this is one of the most popular cases on the market and very easy to find tutorials for )

OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit (OEM) System Builder DVD 1 Pack

MISC: Belkin Anti-Static Wrist Band with Adjustable Grounding,

Note: My budget is $3000 and that's around how much this costs on amazon (I'm going to use amazon because of their free super saver shipping in purchases over $25 ( In USA don't know about the rest of the world)) Also this is my first PC i'm building. I'm 15 and building this for my parents who think that it costs $3000 to run excel and word. However i am going to be gaming on this

Toodles

You could probably go for a K-series i7 so you can overclock it. If you overclock a CPU, you get even more value for money, but can't unless you get a K-series CPU (like the 3770K for example)

As you're not actually using quad-channel memory, I think the X79 platform is a bit pointless. If you used the Z77 Asus MAXIMUS V FORMULA ROG for example (which is pretty much the same price here in the UK), you would get more features than on the Sabertooth you planned. With that you can get a K-series CPU for the same price as the other one and overclock it using the competent cooling you have.

Basically, the Sabertooth has less features overall than the MAXIMUS V FORMULA ROG, unless you desperately want quad channel memory and a couple more...
The Maximus is dual-channel compatible.

You still need thermal paste for liquid cooling, between the processor heatplate-thingy and the cooler's processor contact plate. It will probably come with some preapplied thermal paste, but it's not normally very good stuff. Just clean it off and apply a bit of IC Diamond and it should make it a few degrees cooler than using stock thermal paste. If you need to, there are some great thermal paste application tutorials available on Youtube.

The RAM i plan on using now is Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory (CMSX8GX3M2A1600C9) is that CAS9? And how can you tell what CAS something is? OH SHIT! Thats laptop memory!

Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CMZ16GX3M2A1600C10) Is what i will be using sorry about that misshap

i dont think laptop memory will work on your rig... think of CAS as a train and memory as people, CAS latency means the delay for people getting on and off the train.

If this is your first PC build, then go on the internet and do crap tons of research before you start. That's how I know what I do - reading and watching videos. It really helps, as I'm only 14 and I know more about PC hardware than pretty much anybody in my school year- even the massive nerds.

Before I started researching, I knew nothing about what was inside computers apart from that you shouldn't mess with it. Now I've built a decent gaming PC on a small £600 budget and can give advice to people on the internet.

Sorry thats amazon being stupid with a large side of human error

almost same story with m, only im 15. and for rook, its best for you to do some more reasearch. and if you are gonna overclock be very careful with it or your gonna end up with fried CPU. read as many guids as you can wit hoverclocking and understand the concept.

Ok thank i just read about CAS and i think i get it now.

FYI: I've spent about a week on the interwebs just searching stuff like this and i know how to build a computer, its just alot of the terms confuse me. Also wow you're 14 i'm 15 and you know alot more than me.

Ok final final list

God my parents are suckers.........

Not in that way you sick fuck

Not quite as final as it could be - you're still using quad channel memory on a dual channel mobo and the processor is incompatible.

The socket on the Z77 board is LGA1155, whereas the processor is socket LGA2011. This means it basically won't fit, let alone work properly.

You could change up the processor and memory or just go with your original choice of the Sabertooth, which would work with the 3820. I would still recommend the memory I linked and a 3770k with the maximus though.

EDIT = You changed the memory for one that works, keep that one.

Ok i will change to 3770k so i have the ability to overclock and then it will all work right?

God i'm an idiot anyway all of these parts work right?

It seems so to me. You may want to run it past some other people to make sure, as it's quite a lot of money you're pouring into it.

As a final thought, what sort of fans are you going to be using, and what about some lighting and colour scheming to make it look totally badass?

Its gonna be black and red some grey for the PSU and and SSD but the headphones will be white for contrast and i'm gonna use a liquid cooler with the fans in the case.

Also the case has a window so it will be visible and look cool

It shouldn't be that loud with a liquid cooling system should it? I mean the GPU and the case fans but that shouldn't be to loud and even if it is loud, the one i'm using right now which is from 2006 is like 80 decibels and i'm fine

Updated list then -

3770k
Maximus V Formula
GTX Titan
2 x 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz in black
XFX XXX Edition 850W 80+ Silver
Blu-ray drive
2 x 4TB HDD
SSD
H80
800D
Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
IC Diamond
Peripherals

Lighting?
Some subtle red LED lighting would look lovely. Perhaps an NZXT 200mm with PCI light intensity card would be ok?

If you want a super-silent PC, then maybe go for Corsair SP 120mm series fans for the H80 and Corsair AF 140mm fans x 2 for the front and bottom as intakes.

You shouldn't need the anti-static strap unless you build PCs for a living. Just touch a metal part of your case before you touch a component and you'll be fine, and don't do it in a dressing gown because of the insane static they create.

so the only thing you changed was the color of the PSU and some lighting. as for the PSU that's a good idea just a color change. And as for the lighting i'm not particularly concerned about making this look nice although i'll take that in consideration.
