Rate my setup / recommend alternatives :)

Hello so im a first time builder and im going to be building this set-up only i want to make sure these are good choices.

Cpu: Intel Core i5-2550K 3.40GHz (Sandybridge) Socket LGA1155
Gpu: Geforce gtx 580
Mobo : ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 Intel Z68 (REV B3) Socket 1155
Psu : 1000W Mushkin Joule 80PLUS Gold Power Supply
hdd : 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 7200.12 SATA III 6Gb/s Hard Drive - HDD
case : Cooler Master CM Storm Enforcer Black Midi Tower Windowed Chassis w/ USB3.0
ram: Corsair Vengeance Low Profile Blue 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CML8GX3M2A1600C9B)

I may also be doing sli and over clocking in the future
Any recommendations would be appreciated ;)

Save $10 and get the i5 2500K. A simple overclock will get you up to the 2550K level. Besides, it's only 100MHz higher. That makes 1FPS of a difference in games. A 7870 2GB is better than the 580

great rig but i would suggest the following changes-
1-drop down to 2500k(i guess you got the answer from above posts)
2-gtx 580 is outdated.go with 7870 or 7950 if you can afford.
3-great mobo,z77 isn't a big deal,stick with z68.
4-1kw is a huge waste.you don't need any more than 750w for 7950 CF.rosewill capstone is a great unit for $110.my buddy runs a 7950 CF setup with it :)

wow thanks i dint realise the 7870 is 40 pounds cheaper yet is slightly better in gaming thanks bro :)
