I want to run current games on max settings with stable FPS, 30+

Is this worth the money? Will the CPU bottleneck? Am I better off buying everything new at a hit to performance? How much of a hit would I be taking?

I'd like to know what's wrong with that bundle first off though. The value for the price is the best thing I've ever seen, I realize the CPU is 3 generations behind, but that can be upgraded and retail the video card alone is over half of my $900 budget. I also would lose out on the 120GB SSD, 1TB of storage space and another monitor to work with. Also, just for reference. The PC is clean as hell, it's very well taken care of. here is a picture of the internals.

OK so that one I ahve just compiled is BETTER by a large margin than the one you can get AND cheaper with the exception of the sound card.

If you are still under a tight budget, lose the SSD.

The PSU is total overkill and not as good quality as the one I suggest.
The SSD sucks in comparison to modern SSDs at a similar price.
One HDD of 2TB is much cheaper.
The CPU cooler is not nearly as good as the EVO i suggested ANd its mroe expensive.
An i5 3570K is THE gaming CPU these days and far outperforms the AMD. It even OCs better.
The one I suggested has USB3.
The HD7970 is a better card than the GTX680. And will OC waayy beyond the GTX.
The case is large and overkill aswel.

As you can see you are being taken for a ride. A second hand PC with those specs is not near that value. You could build an identical one to that for the same price or maybe even less.

I don't think you can beat this build I'm debating over for $900, really. He's also offering RMA service if any of the parts break.

I can upgrade the mobo+CPU for about $400 down the road in a few years for a huge boost too and still be able to play everything at high-max settings at that time.

For that price point I really doubt it. He said he would handle any returns that needed to be made on any faulty parts.

I have a 1090T with a 6950, and I get minimum 30 frames at 1080p in most games. The ones that don't get minimum 30 frames, such as Crysis, only ever go below 30 at rare times. I have had no issues what so ever in terms of frame rates.

Shame.. With that dinky 23' I think a 3570K and 7970 would not bottleneck.. Other than on multidisplays. And if for some reason it does you would be able to OC it up to par.. I have a Evo and it is cold. Only game I think you will see any below 30 drops would probably be Crysis 3.. I ran the game maxed out on slightly lower gpu specs with slight dips. But if you feel you need that used hardware right before the new generations come out.. I hope it was worth it for the overpriced system..
