Read only

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.perform_maintain (More info?)

Every folder I create is read only and I do not seem able to open them even
when I go to properties, open the little green square and click on apply.
The system seems to be opening the folder and sub files and folders as
requested but when I go back to properties, the folder/file is still read
only.
Any help much appreciated.
