My son and I are not new to pc builds, I have built PCs since Dos 3.1, Windows 3.1, 386s and so on but .........

My (his old computer finally died, I was working, it clicked and turned off.

So, might as well upgrade it,

Corsair power supply
New intel motherboard, MSI MAG 2790 WiFi
Samsung 990 Pro PCie
Corsair Vengeance RGB Grey (2x16GB)
Intel Core i7-14700K (12EC + 8PC/28T @3.40GHz) LGA1700
and as the old cooler was old, a new Nautilus 240RZ cooler

I have perfect hard drives, SSD for C 1TB
CoolerMaster CM Storm Trooper Full Tower

Now ........

This is not a massively expensive setup but it isn't rubbish, and for Photoshop, Pinnacle etc it is 100% perfect if not overkioll,, believe it or not I am able to video edit and am writing this on my Toshiba i5 15 year old 16Gb Laptop,

1. Built it
2. Turned on
3. It booted every time into the BIOS, every time

YES I KNOW, could be drivers, many conflicts but then turned on, NOTHING, 100% dead.

Tried everything , all unplugged, one component at a time.

Now waiting for a new board

This is REALLY annoying

Especially as I am

But we don't know there is motherboard power, no lights nothing, dead

Press on/off, nothing at all
My apologies. I mis-stated in my previous post. You only clear CMOS when the system is entirely disconnected. No power through the system.

You usually have to take out the CMOS battery, then short 2 pins. Then put the battery back in. Hopefully that will get it booting again.

Check with this compatibility builder list. Check if your RAM is listed.

We don't need to see ChatGPT results. The make/model info is sufficient.

If your memory supports XMP 3.0, you are good to go in that regards.

Double check all of your cabling. Make sure than both the 24-pin and and both 8-pin power connectors are firmly attached to both the motherboard and PSU.

What is proper model name of your motherboard?
There are different variants. Some use DDR4 , some DDR5.
3. It booted every time into the BIOS, every time

So .. it was booting into BIOS before.
But now nothing?
What did you change?

Can you show a photo of your system with side panel removed?
Please no videos. Just a simple photo.

Can your son help with assembly/ troubleshooting? Or is he too young or autistic too?

It is my 31 year old building it, believe me his Autism makes him amazing at electronics

Nothing was changed it booted to the bios about 8 times then died 🙁

This is the model

MSI MAG 2790 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI motherboard

A small simple thing. Check the cable from the pump unit to your mobo fan header. Ensure it is securely connected. PLUS maker SURE it is plugged into the CPU_FAN header. Why? MANY mobos monitor closely the speed signal at the CPU_FAN header for NO speed signal, which indicates failure of that "fan" (in this case, actually the pump). If there is no signal the system usually will shut down completely and quickly without even waiting for the temp sensor inside the CPU chip to show high temps. This is to protect the CPU from disastrous overheating with NO cooling. Such systems often will NOT allow you to start up unless that header does get a valid speed signal immediately after the power button is pushed. So if the cable from the pump is NOT connected to CPU_FAN, likely it will not start up at all.
