I recently reinstalled Windows 10 on my computer and I had to download Realtek HD Audio Manager again. But, now it's not working, the program won't open, there's no icon in the taskbar and no message appears if I plug my headphones in.

I tried reinstalling the audio manager, but it didn't help.

Any tips?

EDIT: I HAVE FOUND A SOLUTION!!!
  1. Open "Device Manager"
  2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers"
  3. Search for "Realtek High Definition Audio" and right click it.
  4. Click on "Update driver"
  5. Click on "Browse my computer for driver software"
  6. Click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer"
  7. Select "Realtek High Definition Audio"
  8. Restart after installing
If you don't get a step please ask or take a look at this picture:

I have the same issue - I can't find the Realtek HD Audio Manager anywhere. I have tried downloading latest drivers from both Asus (my Mobo in signature) and from Realtek website. I still cannot find the HD Audio Manager.

It is enabled in the BIOS and Realtek has added some devices i can't use in the sound settings.

I tried the version from the Realtek site, the version from my motherboard and the Microsoft version. I have the motherboard and chipset drivers installed.

Your "speakers" output is using your Realtek Audio. The green bars show you're playing sound. Assuming you're not hearing anything, as your PC can hear it obviously, can only be your listening device is not connect correctly. As far as headphones are concerned, if you plug them directly in to your mobo so you can at least remove the probability that it's not your front panel that has the issue.

I can hear audio, but not the 5.1 audio that I expect from my Logitech Z906 setup. I believe I need the Realtek HD Audio Manager to setup the 5.1 surround sound.

I solved it (for me at least).
After you make sure you have all the latest drivers go to:

1) Control Panel

2) View by Large Icons

3)HD audio Manager will appear here

I dont know why it doesnt show up in programs or by searching, but this worked for me, best of luck.
