Realtek Network Controller was not found -- Deep Sleep Mode

So I recently built my own computer. Everything was working fine, I was able to make everything work fine. Then yesterday morning I started up my computer and it was not connected to the internet. My ethernet was plugged in and everything was as it should be. I went in to device manager and noticed that my realtek network controller was not in the device list under network adapters. I then tried to reinstall my LAN drivers from ASUS (my motherboard) which is how I got it to work in the first place. However, this time when it "finishes" installing an error pops up and says "The realtek Network Controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable."

I went on to many forums and here is what I've tried so far...

Unplugged Power supply and flipped the power supply switch to off and let it sit for 10 mins (also I let it sit for a few hours and same result)

Took out the RAM and did the above step again

Went into Bios and made sure that my LAN settings were all enabled (also tried resetting all my settings to the default)

Also flashing the bios (I'm not sure if I did this correctly, let me know what I should do, or how I can tell if I did this correctly)

I'm at a loss..... I have been working on this now for several hours and still have not come up with a solution. If anyone can help me with this, it would be much appreciated.

Hi, I have also tried this except the Realtek Network Controller does not show up (that is what prompted me to reinstall the LAN drivers). But when I try to do that, it says that deep sleep mode is preventing me from finishing the installation.

YES,

Disconnect the battery on the motherboard, while the PSU and the main laptop battery is disconnected, leave it for a minute or so and boot back to the system.
I could not believe my eyes, the LAN port appeared back on the list in the device manager.

Purchased a Lenovo u510 running Win8. Lost ethernet adapter connectivity to my external wireless CLEAR modem. After looking for the LAN network adapter in Device Manager ( it was missing) realized I needed to reinstall it. Also, little green port light at ethernet adapter port was not lighting.
Went through reinstallation process and received the Deep Sleep Mode error.

Lenovo technical support said, power off the laptop and remove the battery ( if you can't remove it, place laptop in high performance mode, power unplugged) and completely drain the battery ( turn off all power saving settings such as display off, hard drive stop.....) After the laptop stops running power on the laptop and let it die again. Repeat this cycling until the laptop is unresponsive when you hit the power on button. Then wait 10 minutes for the residual battery / electrostatic charge on the motherboard to dissipate and the laptop to die one last time. Press power on button again to make sure there is no electrical charge left. THEN plug in and power on the laptop. Reinstall the device driver according to these instructions: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/detail.page?DocID=TS000519. Presto, your Realtek network adapter will now show up and be functional in the Device Manager. You are good to go.

just go to hard ware shop buy Lan card and insert it into your mother board
1 if you are using 7 go to change adapter settings and if u see computer symbol in it then enable it
if not install ur lan drivers if not working try lan card step

Hello guys .

I have the same problem.
Aandyaoe friend, have you manage it? How?
I leave the notebook without battery one full night and nothing happened. Still no LAN conection available. Still the message "The adapter is not installed". Still the error with "The realtek Network Controller was not found. If deep sleep mode is enabled Please plug the cable". Can you help me?

When you start the your laptop press F2 ....2 to 3 times ...setting will open ...go to adavanced...then go to NIC ...Enable it ...then install Your Ethernet drive..... problem will solve..................

Hi...I had encountered similar problem. It might be due to the presence of harmful program inside the unzipped folder for the respective Driver Software.Try this...go to Device Manager> Network Adapters. Right click on "Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller" (Which is for my system), click on 'uninstall', mark the option "delete the driver software for this device" and uninstall it. Now you can repair/ reinstall Network Driver using the Resource CD. Worked for me!!...

This is how I resolved this problem without having to use a screwdriver or look inside my laptop (HP Envy m6 with Realtek Ethernet LAN Adapter running Windows 7 Ultimate x64).

STEP1: Find and install the original Realtek drivers.

Download the original Realtek drivers here:

Another way to find the drivers:
Go to http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
Download Search RTL8110SC
Click on RTL8110SC(L) (Software)
Select your Operating System (i.e. Windows)
Locate your version under descripton and then click US1 under Site1 to download

Right click the Ethernet Adapter in the Device Manager
Click Update Driver software
Select Browser my computer for driver software
Select the folder where the drivers are extracted and then click Ok
This should install the correct drivers for you


STEP2: Prevent the Ethernet adapter from deep sleep.

Go to Start > Click Control Panel
Choose System and Security
Click Device Manager (under System)
Open Network Controller properties by:
Double-click Network adapters to expand it
Double-click the Realtek Network Controller
Turn off Deep Sleep mode by:
Choose the Power Management tab
Untick “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

I hope this helps.

No, it won't. That is the problem, it is not letting you install the driver either via Realtek software, Asus software, driver update, driver re-install, unplugging the battery on the motherboard doesn't work, letting it sit for over 2 hours doesn't work, I am ready to re-install everything or buy another lan card because this Realtek built into my motherboard is a piece of shit!!!

went to BIOS (F2). go to advanced, system configuration, then enable the Built-in LAN. I tried everything that's in this forum, then I went and checked. It was in disabled. Who knows why. After I enabled it, it worked like a charm.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge Laptop.
My wireless is completely wiped out of my laptop. The internet works when it is plugged into the modem but I want to use the wireless but nothing is found at all.
Any ideas how to fix the wireless?
It is not on the network connections or anything

Well I'm not sure if this is going to work or you, but bios update helped me. I have compaq and had the same issue with realtek lan card. So I downloaded lastest bios update (v.29) from Hp and it didn't helped me. And when I almost decided to leave it like it is I tryed one more time with v.27. Worked like a charm...

Hey guys, just wanted to say that after a long night of trying to get my freshly built computer to install the ethernet drivers, I finally did it! I had also the "Deep Sleep" problem but after reading one comment saying that a different driver worked i searched for an older version of the driver and it worked. Apparently companies do not test everything properly before releasing new drivers on their page. Best of luck to everyone trying to get it working :)

Hello, i had the same problem but i fix it, it´s very very easy, so... I installed the Realtek Network Driver and it said the same thing, Realtek driver was not found, please plug in the cable, i tried many times and nothing so i start to think and i realize that some computers can´t support some drivers, so i uninstall the realtek driver and i installed the atheros driver, after installed i reboot the laptop and Voilá, good as new, so if you installed realtek driver uninstall it and install atheros if neither of those work send me a message there is another way to fix the problem.

Realtak driver sucks. They didn't check everything when they published ye driver...

1. Turn off the PC, unplug the power cable! uninstool driver and old driver instool
2. Do a power dance for 10 minutes and finish it with a backflip! (No, I’m just kidding, simply wait for some time)
3. Turn on the PC and you’ll see that the network controller is working again. It’s magic!

The reason why this works is that some information are stored in your motherboard battery even after shutting down the computer. Also, to reset the network controller you need to unplug the power or it will remember the “device status”. It gets a lot more technical and there are more reasons why this works, but let’s keep this simple.
