I get this error message when turning on my Toshiba c40-c-10q, when I access the bios the HHD show up so I don't think it's dead. My boot order is in the right order and I've tried booting with secure boot on and off and still won't work, I also can't seem to boot of a USB (the same error appears). Any ideas on how to fix this?

usually means that something went wrong with the boot partition of the hdd. have you made any changes to the partitions of the drive lately?

if not, then something that can repair the boot partition would be needed if you can get something to boot from usb or dvd. you can do it with a windows disk if you can boot one. here is a win 7 tutorial on how to repair it. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/32523/how-to-manually-repair-windows-7-boot-loader-problems/

if you are not using win 7, then a google search from "repair boot partition in win ___" would turn up a how to for your os.
