Hello everyone! Please help me find a solution to this problem. Thanks.
So what happened is, my gpu most likely has failed/died. I replaced it with my really old gpu which is a radeon hd3450 (really old as I've said
).
Now when I boot it only goes as far as the lock screen and then BSOD
(system thread exception not handled atihdw86.sys). Therefore, I need to boot into safe mode to uninstall the gpu driver.
The problem at first was I couldn't get into safe mode. I already found a solution for that from this thread and now I can access the legacy boot option and supposedly boot into safe mode. However, when I go on booting to safe mode the computer seems to stop running.. It just shows the windows 8 splash screen for a few seconds and then turns blank. The screen is on but nothing happens except for the numlock key blinks in a regular interval of about 2 to 3 seconds. Same goes with the led in my casing which most likely suggests that its looping? I dont know, but its just the same as when I had bootloop problems with Windows 7.
If anyone can point me in the right direction on what to do next, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance and have a good day.
By the way, I'm posting this using Windows7 on the same computer and I didn't even need to boot into safe mode to uninstall the graphics driver. +1 for win7
