Hey,

I'v got a 1tb wd my book that has slowly died. I pulled the hd from it (which i'm pretty sure is good), connected it to a sata to usb and plugged it into my pc, but I can't see it under xplorer.
In device mgr it's there as a mbr. how can i acess it? do i need to delete the boot sector? I want to use it in anther barebone nas (dlink or something) ...
thanx

I'm not understanding. in the device manager window in the MMC you see the drive listed under disk drives and it is labeled as MBR?

right click on my computer -> Manage -> Disk Management.

is it listed? what partitions do you see? if the info there looks right, you probably have to right click on the drive and select assign drive letter.

otherwise, what i would suggest is download Kubuntu and Linux Live USB Creator and make a persistent live boot disk
linux will usually give you better access to and control of the drive.

still nothing? check the drive's jumper settings and verify you have it set correctly for your system.
