I'm looking for suggestions on cameras, or sites where I can fnd that information, for a 1080p camera that can both record and take pictures. It doesn't have to be top notch, since I'm mostly a beginner and won't be able to take advantage of all the features anyway. Also, I don't have any professional gear to pair it with (lights, studio, etc.). It's for homemade videos, but I still want clear 1080p image quality.

The main purpose of the camera will be to take photos of individuals during events, and record 1 on 1 interviews or videos speaking directly to the camera.

Thanks for your help :)

It depends on your budget, there are lots of these cameras in the market, you need to set the budget first, then look for the reviews from online, like DPreview https://www.dpreview.com/reviews?category=cameras
Or
https://www.cameralabs.com

And you will need a tripod too. You should go to local store first to test the camera you like, if you can, then buy it on BF or before BF. Black Friday is coming.

Good luck.

Personally would get a camera for stills and use your phone for video.
