Hello, I'm currently on the market for a monitor as title says.

The monitor I'm looking for should preferably fit in this criteria:
- 27"
- 2560x1440
- 240Hz or more
- Nano-IPS type colour gamut
- Flat (Not a fan of curved displays)
- Preferably under £1k, however I will consider all justified recommendations.

My current main display is a Lenovo Legion Y27q-20 27'' with a Nano-IPS panel that I love the colours of. I want to upgrade to something that has either equal or better colour gamut.

I have looked at the new 240Hz OLED monitors, however I learnt that because of their RBG layout, the text looks blurred out which would be really bad for me as I work with text quite a lot.

I really enjoy playing shooters like CS:GO, but also I do Graphic Design work as well as watch movies on my monitor.

At the top of my list currently is the Asus ROG Strix XG27AQMR monitor, however the cheapest price I can get one for is £750, which I'm not entirely sure is worth it compared to a monitor like the Dell Alienware AW2723DF priced at £540.

Thanks in advance!

I want to recommend an OLED given your budget, but you stated you read lots of text. I still think it's worth mentioning I have used an OLED and while the text fringing is visible, it is not nearly as bad as some people would have you believe. With all that said, if you are torn between the Alienware or the ROG, I would personally save the money and stick with the Alienware. Even if these monitors were 1080p, 300Hz is extremely overkill and that high of a refresh rate is quite simply a waste of money. The Alienware also has better HDR support with a brighter panel, so if you like your IPS colors that might be something to consider. Both are outstanding monitors, and you can't go wrong with either. LG and MSI have monitors close to...

LG and MSI have monitors close to these, but they are all fairly similar.

If you are okay making a few tradeoffs, the MSI Optix MAG274Q may be one to consider. It is slightly lower refresh rate at 165Hz, but it is cheaper than both the other listed monitors, and has a Quantum Dot layer, meaning the panel can reproduce many more colors than a standard IPS panel. Those tradeoffs might be worth it to you if you really care about color accuracy. Just the like the other two, it also has very fast pixel response time and low input lag. You really can't go wrong with any of these monitors, hope this helped, take care.

I'll look into OLED's more if the text clarity really isn't that bad, worst case scenario I'll just return it. I'm not sure which one I should consider though, there are 3 that I know of: Corsair Xeneon, Asus PG27AQDM, and LG UltraGear 27GR95QE. The LG is sitting at around £850 whilst the other 2 are around £1050.

I looked at more monitors and found another 2 that I am considering, namely the Lenovo Legion Y27qf-30 at £380 which I thought is an amazing price for what the specs seem to offer, and I have also found the BenQ MOBIUZ EX270QM which is currently £700.

As for the MSI monitor you recommended, I'm a bit confused by their naming. The MSI Optix MAG274QRFDE-QD is £380 and the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD is £350.

I'm not entirely open to going for a 165Hz though, the whole reason I'm looking at monitors again, is because my Philips 240Hz monitor went bad and I couldn't get a replacement due to it getting discontinued, so I just got a refund instead, and now being stuck with my 165Hz monitor for the time being, I do notice the difference having used 240Hz for quite a while.

Let's start with the OLED displays. All of these displays are incredibly good, especially for gaming; you really can't go wrong with any of them. With all that said, you are going to have to pick and choose which features you personally care about. The ROG Swift PG27AQDM, for example, does not have HDMI 2.1. Even if you don't use HDMI very often, it's still a nice feature to have in those rare cases. However, the ROG also has the best brightness and HDR performance out of the three by a mile. The other problem with OLED panels is their lackluster brightness, however the ROG gets just under 1000 nits in a 10% window. That isn't amazing, but for an OLED it's a solid result, and blows the other two out of the water. The ROG also has the lowest input lag at 1440p 240Hz and 60Hz. The ROG is the best out of the three, and from there the LG and Corsair trade blows. The only features the ROG is missing is the previously mentioned HDMI 2.1 and Nvdidia G-SYNC certification (which isn't a big deal, the monitor is still G-SYNC compatible). If you want an OLED get the ROG Swift.

For the price of the BenQ you could get the ROG Strix XG27AQMR, which is a better monitor. The Lenovo is a decent alternative, but the Alienware is the best out of the roster. It has the highest brightness in both HDR and SDR out of the roster, and has excellent color accuracy out of the box with no calibration. The Alienware AW2723DF is the best.

If you want to save a buck, your Lenovo you have listed puts up a pretty good fight and is a solid monitor for the price. It doesn't get as bright as the Alienware, but has very accurate out-of-the-box colors, good response times, and low input lag. This is a solid monitor for the price. If you want to save some money, the Lenovo Legion Y27q-30 is very good.

On the Lenovo website, they claim that the Lenovo Legion Y27q-30 is actually 280Hz (The Y27q-20 is 165hz).
I think you convinced me on that OLED though, I'll probably see if I can get the Asus one because I don't really care about Gsync and never really use it, and I will most definitely not use a HDMI cable for it, if I'm not able to get that (as the price is probably the highest of any 240hz 1440p monitor that I have seen) I'll roll the dice between the Lenovo Y27q-30 and Alienware AW2723DF.

I will leave this open for a couple more days to see if anyone wants to add anything.

Thank you!

Good catch, sorry for the mistake. I don't think you will be disappointed with OLED. Be well my friend.
