I'm looking for a laptop for a student (not for me, but a friend).

Following are the requirements. Kindly suggest best options and where to buy from in the UK.

Laptop should not be heavy.
There will be no gaming whatsoever.
Prefer one with Long life and durability.

Budget - Under £700 British pounds
Laptop size - Max 15.5 inch, min 14 inch
Screen resolution - 1080p preference
Battery life - prefer long battery life
Hard drive - must have SSD for the OS, plus about about 500 to 1TB disk space
RAM - prefer 16Gigs
OS - Windows 11 and above

Laptop should not be heavy.
That term is subjective...what sort of a weight are you looking at?

Prefer one with Long life and durability.
What tasks will the laptop be put under?

In essence you should stylize your post with information asked of in this thread;

Not gonna be used for gaming, so inbuilt graphics would suffice. Typical daily tasks such as browsing, office, mails, etc.

About 1.5kg weight I guess,lower is better.
And about 10hr battery life

check for the used business laptops like the lenovo T580 (just go to amazon and type "T580")
i bought two for the company, looks brand new. 500$CAD
4 cores / 8threads i5 8350u, 16 GB of ram, 1TB M2 SSD, cleaned interior and exterior. Mine even came with discrete Nvidia MX150 GPUs

being business-clas laptop, the quality of the materials, hinges, etc is far supperior to a new crappy acer unit. and cheaper.

Even a "diva" user can't tell it's a used unit. I won't tell them because if i do they would suddendly discover issues lol
