Recommended Battery Backed-up Surge Protector for my PC?

I had a power failure at my home at a bad time while I was working on my PC, losing quite a bit of work in the process.

So I decided it was high time I invested in a battery backed-up surge protector (if that's the right word for it,) to prevent unpleasant surprises like that from happening again.

What would give me at least 10 minutes of battery power, enough time to get everything shut down.
20 minutes at best?

My PC's power output is nearly 400 Watts.

Any recommendations?

if your draw is exactly 400w a 780w/1300va (at 120v) battery backup would give about 14 minutes of use time.

keep in mind that as for draw you need to not go by your power supply size but actual draw (you can measure this with devices such as kill-a-watt or with a multimeter and cable which can do such things. also keep in mind that there is a big difference between idle and load in terms of draw.

i'm running a similar but slightly higher draw system (at load) and at minimum i get around 5 minutes of use at at maximum around 15-18. load has a big influence.

i've had good luck with APC and their pro series though there are other brands you could try as well.

Had a look through APC's site, and after looking around, I found what I think might be my best choice for my needs:

Although, a question for the sake of avoiding confusion: Since one side of the plugs uses Battery Backup while the other side uses Surge Protection, am I to assume that if a power surge does hit while my PC is plugged into the Battery Backup side, it could become damaged?

Anything else you know about these devices in terms of how they operate will be very helpful.

both sides should be surge protected while only one of the sides provides battery backup. this is why it says "surge only" meaning that the one side has no battery backup but only surge protection.

i have that specific model myself sitting on my desk. while i havent had any surges that i know of it has certainly handled brownouts and blackouts without much trouble. at least long enough for me to save work and shut down the right way.
