Looking for keyboard buying advice for optimized gaming.

I don't care about flashy things like macros or LEDs, I just want something that's reliable and can read more than like 5 key inputs at once.

My ancient brick of a Dell keyboard works fine but if I'm hitting ~5 or 6 keys at once it just derps out and doesn't register one of them.

Preferred price range:
$20-$40

Necessary qualities:
- Satisfying keypress action (we all know that awful squishy laptop keyboard feel)
- No input delay (obviously)
- Ability to read at least 6 simultaneous keypresses
- Built to last

Solution
for more than 5-6 keypresses at once i would highly advise getting a model with full "n key rollover" which means you can press down an unlimited number of buttons at once and still have them register.

that squishy keypress action is because you are using rubber dome style switches under the keys. mechanical keyboards have a much more satisfying action but you will need to think about doubling your budget. however, the keyboards can last for a very long time so i think its worthwhile.

on a wired keyboard i've never heard of having input delay. even my old wireless keyboard had a delay so slight it was inperceptible. perhaps bluetooth keyboards might have more but i've never used them.

with your budget you are most likely looking to...

with your budget you are most likely looking to get a rubber dome style keyboard. i've had quite a few logitech keyboards over the years and they have worked marvelously.

if you are willing to step up your budget then you might want to look at das keyboards, unicomp keyboards, or maybe the overpriced razer keyboard for mechanical keyswitches. i can speak from experience that the unicomp will last you 20+ years if you take care of it. i'm using one (ibm model m which the unicomp is based on) from 1992, my previous one was from 1985.
