Hey all,

I've been wanting to tweak around my rig to get it at its top performance but I am not all that familiar with these types of enhancing practices. Could you all recommend what to do with my rig in order to obtain its Top Performance with limited spending? I am not to familiar with overclocking but I am open to anything. Thanks.

Solution
Yes, that is a very High end GPU and it will work fine with your motherboard. As I said, your motherboard DOES NOT limit your parts performance.

Unfortunately you own the build already, because there are a decent amount of changes I would have made that would not have increased the budget but improved performance.

There is not much to do without buying new parts. Overclocking your CPU will not really gain you any game performance as the GPUs are the current limiting factor.

Thankyou. Just for my sake, what changes would you have made?

What GPU would you recommend for my build? I've been thinking about transferring my GPU's to my wife's comp for her AUTODESK work.

No, don't buy a different GPU. Your motherboard is the limiting factor here.

1) It has 6+2 phase power, not 8+2 or better. Even if you had a good liquid cooler you would not be able to overclock the CPU much due to the power curcuit.

2) It has a 990x chipset, not a 990fx chipset. The difference being that a 990fx chipset can do crossfire or SLI with BOTH GPUs on an x16 PCIe slot. 990x does both GPUs at x8.

You will need to change your motherboard before you can really get any benefit. Doing so will allow your current CPU and GPUs to reach their full potential.

Recommended MOBO?

Need a budget to be able to recommend a GPU.

Lets say $800 😉

Thank you for the recommendation. Would this GPU still function to its full potential in what was stated earlier by Madd being that my MOBO is limiting everything?

Your motherboard is not limiting anything besides your overclocking ability. You hardware is running at 100% of its possible power. A modern motherboard CANNOT bottleneck things.

Your motherboard will not limit your CPU or GPU performance AT ALL. ONLY your ability to overclock.

Thank you Tiny for your help. I've looked up some GPUs to you recommendation. Would this GPU be compatible with my MOBO?

Thanks for your help Tiny! Now help me convince the wife that I need this GPU lol.
