Hello, my name is Jan. I am an applied economics teacher teaching remote.

For my lectures I want to record two inputs one one screen.

I own a monitor that has the picture in picture feature. In this monitor I use the picture in picture with two inputs, one for my iPad (small screen, to scribble) and one for my PC (to make use of statistical software). I want to know if there is a way to record what is showing on screen (both iPad - small picture and PC - rest of the screen) via my computer.

I would like to know if it is possible to record what is shown on screen via the computer only. Can I record the signal from the iPad to my monitor via my PC or is this not possible at all?

I would like to thank you for your time looking into my problem and look forward to reading your solutions/explanations!

Best regards,

Jan

Tech details:
Monitor: Gigabyte 34 inch
iPad: 2020 pro
Computer: Ryzen CPU, Nvidia GPU

Thank you Hotaru.
If I understand correctly, the only option for me is to purchase an additional piece of hardware/equipment as a pass through for recording?
Best regards, Jan
Well you could see if there is any way to stream the display of the ipad to the desktop, or if there is a companion software for it that will display what the ipad shows on the desktop.
I'm no pro on mac things but a quick search showed some that there are some ways at least if you have a mac.

If you manage to do this then you can record the desktop screen and it will include the ipad.
You can't record the PIP window because whatever you're using to record isn't receiving the other video stream. The other video stream is only going to the monitor.

You can get a capture device for the PC, use a video player that can display from the capture device, and record via whole screen from there.

Thank you Terry, this seems like a feasibly solution. I do not own a mac but I do know ways to stream the iPad screen to my PC. I think I made finding the solution harder than it had to be!

best regards, Jan
