Red pixels around graphics! GPU/CPU/RAM?

Dammit! Just got my 970 sli going well and have been messing around with overclocking. Nothing crazy, a little bit at a time and benchmarking. Today i tried out he DIP5 ASUS cpu tuner, where it slowly overclocks your cpu and when you get the BSOD it backs it off. Well after the restart i started getting random BSOD. NOW, I'm getting random red/green pixels around the windows/asus logos:






All clocks were returned to default, then windows was reinstalled(which i do every 3 months or so) The OS is on an SSD.

Temps never got to a stressful level so i don't think it was a heat issue.


Not sure what to narrow it down to. Any ideas?

2x gtx 970 4g
1x front intake
1x side intake
1x top exhaust
1x rear exhaust

Reduce the overclock.

I did. All clocks are back to default. Reinstalled windows, tested both gpu's one at a time.

*I usually do a reformat/reinstall of windows every 3 months or so to keep things running tip top. The os is on an ssd so it makes things easier.

ok @james_237 first off your removing and reinstalling of the windows will eventually mess up the ssd. secondly, The thing you are experiencing is because of you pushing the graphics card to run so high that it actually made it to where the graphics card failed to read the coding for textures and is displaying red lines. Basically if you leave it that way for a long amount of time say bye to your gpu. One thing I can advise is check voltages and everything and if you get a low voltage then try to apply more volts and test the heat because if the gpu is too hot it can affect it. but being the graphics card it is there is no real need to overclock it for any reason.

All settings are back to defaults. Im not pushing the cards at all. I just heaven benchmarked just to see if there were any visual problems and i didn't see any. Also played a round of R6:Siege with no problems.

So it this issue gone or are you saying it does not show up in games? And if it's there, it's there in both cards? Is the CPU overclocked or RAM?

Try underclocking the card(s) see how things look then. Also try a different type of connection.

In games and scrolling through webpages it looks kind of like screen tearing. Theres a strip across the middle of the screen that will act a little funky. Right now nothing is overclocked. I unplugged 1 card at a time and tried them, both with the same results.

I you have issues with all types of programs, video cards may have been damaged. Test them in another system and see if issue follows cards. Make sure that system has a good quality power supply to ensure nothing aside from the cards may be the issue.

Just unplugged BOTH cards and ran off the onboard, there were blue pixels around the ASUS logo but nothing around the little Windows logo. Not sure where to go from here...

Is the CPU overclocked or the RAM? Try one stick of RAM at a time. If you are getting image issues on the onboard video card, that can be RAM related.

did u try a new wire to your screen? An animal may have chewed the wires.
