Monitor Refresh Problem

I am temporarily using an old graphics card as the one I normally use died (I keep everything no matter how old, I even have my first 286 in the roof)

Anyway I am using a Geforce2 64mb Mx400 and when I turn on the pc I get black lines either side of the screen and the display squashed int he middle. If I readjust the size to fill the screen it looks stretched. When I play a game the displays changes again and I have to reduce the size of the screen. I think it is the graphics card but I am not sure. Help!!

I have already decided to get a Hercules 9800 pro but not this month as I am still setting up my netowrk wiht my new netgear router/modem

Clean out all of your drivers as well as you can. User drivercleaner 2.0 from driverheaven.net. Then download the newest detonators for the GF2 and your OS. Follow the directions on driverheaven for using driver cleaner. You'll be set. If that doesn't work...your vid card is shot. You can also make sure the drivers for the AGP slot on your motherboard are up to date. If you have a VIA chipset and don't have the VIA 4 in 1 drivers...I'd download those too and slap em in.
