[SOLVED] Regarding motherboard standoff washers

So to ask short are the washers for the motherboard standoffs really necessary?

I'm going to remove a motherboard with washers ASUS P7P55D-E that I installed years back and replace it with a ASUS - X99-A/USB 3.1.
But I'm still not sure if it's more unsafe if the washers are not there.

Metal washers, if the are the size of the copper circles on the board should be fine and should improve ground uniformity.

I also read that those red "paper" washers are not even for what people think but more for not tightning the board to the standoffs.

The general purpose of washers is to spread the clamping force over a larger area. That could prevent damage to a motherboard from overtightening.
