XP Pro SP2:
both regedt32 and regedit seem to open the same program now? They were
previously different... (on win2k)

I was following the direction of KB article 815229, which instructs you to
use regedt32, and could not follow since the regedt32 does not appear as it
did, and as this article expects it to. For instance, there is NO security
menu. Both regedit and regedt32 seem identical on this xp pro sp2 machine?

whats up?

thanks in advance, any info is appreciated.

This has been changed. REGEDT32 and REGEDIT are the same programs.
"Differences Between Regedit.exe and Regedt32.exe"

There is now only one program that does it all. There is no security
menu but you can do things in other ways. For example to set permissions
for a key, right-click on the key and select Permissions.
