REGULAR Asus P5WD2 to overclock Intel 805 D???

Can 't see why not.

CPU is on the boards supported list. Check your BIOS version, ASUS says it works under revision 0301.

Better check on the ASUS website if the P5WLD2 model you are refferring to supports 533 FSB processor, which the 805 Smith is. Some boards support Pentium D with the exception of the Pentium D 805 which was released late in the series. The 805 D Smith is the only Pentium D with a 533 FSB. All the othes have 800/1026 I believe. You have the Intel 955 chipset on there, so if you can get the CPU to run you should be able to get some pretty fair OCing with that setup.

Badge,

I checked it for him, see my previous post. It is on his boards supported list with bios 0301.

i had that chip in my p5wd2,i have 0501 bios tho'.
i got mine to 3.6 with stock power,3.8 with 1.4v and 4ghz to the bios with 1.475.i reckon it will do win with the vcore at 1.5v+.i didnt have the nuts to try it tho'.
it will run very hot and eat lots of juice at 4ghz tho'.you'll also need good cooling pref water.
i've switched to a pentium d 930(@4050mhz/1.31v) coz i could'nt get the best out of my pc7200/ddr2 900 patriot ram.

I have the ASUS micro VM with the 945g chipset. Yeah, I have mine stable at 3.55 mhz., 1.35 Vcore. The idle temps are in the mid to high 40's. I was stuck at 3.25 mhz. until I raised the SLI? setting more than I had along with the FSB in tandem.

Question: When you got to 3.6 on this chipset, what did you do...raise the Vcore? How about the RAM volts? I'm at 1.8 and have a 1.9v now. Anyway, what the key to going higher with this chipset. I have boosted the Vcore, boosted the RAM volts, loosened the RAM timings from 4-4-4-8 to 5-5-5-14 and nothing works to make it go faster. I think my OCZ PC5400 DDR2 6667 mhz. RAM is running around 712 mgz. right now.

Any pointers or suggestion with this 945g chipset?

Killkillkill, I know I don't have exactly the same ASUS board, but I want a water cooling system that will be able to handle the heat of my system, and allow me to overclock it to 4.1GHz, while keeping the temperatures at reasonable levels. I would also like a bit of room for growth in the future as I might want water cooled SLI and Chipset. Here is what I'm looking at purchasing:

Swiftech STORM Extreme Performance Universal Water-block

Danger Den 12V DD-D5 Pump which seems to be exactly the same pump as the Swiftech MCP655™ 12 VDC Pump, but costs a bit less?

Black Ice XTREME III Radiator

Danger Den Single 5 1/4" Bay Reservoir

9 feet of Tygon 7/16in. ID 5/8in. OD Laboratory Tubing #R3603

9 feet of Swiftech Smart Coils 625

Swiftech HydrX Extreme-Duty UV Coolant

10 Breeze Miniature Hose Clamp 7/32 in. to 5/8 in.

3 Antec 120mm Blue LED Fans

So does it look like I've left anything out that would be obvious, what might I need to go to Home Depot or my local Ace Hardware to purchase in addition to this? What are your thoughts on the Swiftech vs. the Danger Den pump? Does it make sense to use 7/16in ID 5/8in OD tubing? Will this suffiecntly handle all the heat from my Pentium D 805 @ 4.1GHz?
