Question Regular b450m motherboard with a ryzen 7 3700x?

Hi guys, I was wondering I have a msi b450m in my current pc and I am looking to upgrade my cpu I now have the ryzen 5 2600 and I have purchased a ryzen 7 3700x would this be compatible with my motherboard? HELP ME PLEASE GUYS

Which MSI model you have?
You can check in the bios section of your motherboard's website if it supports Ryzen 3000.

If your motherboard is this one:
B450M GAMING PLUS

Then yes it will support the 3700x as long as you update the BIOS to version 7B87v17 before you install the 3700x.

Make sure to go into the BIOS and set the Optimized Default settings then save and reboot.
Then use MFlash (in the BIOS) to update to version 7B87v17 with the 2600 installed. (make sure you unzip/unrar the .zip file to a USB stick that is formatted as FAT 32 and NOT NTFS).
Then install the 3700x and enter the BIOS and set the Optimized Default settings again and save and reboot.
Then flash version 7B87v18, the repeat for versions 7B87v19, 7B87v1A and 7B87v1B.
Some people will tell you that updating the BIOS one version at a time is not necessary BUT IMO it is worth the extra 20 to 30 minutes it takes to do it this way just to be 100% sure that you don't have BIOS issues later.

Should be fine. I'm running a 1700x on a b350. As long as msi says the board will accept it you should be fine.

I’m using the regular b450 not the plus but in a bios previous bios update they allowed comparability with the ryzen 3000 series so I updated my bios to the latest version and now I think I should be able to install the ryzen 7 3700x in it. Right?

Please post a link to your exact motherboard model.
There are a lot of MSI B450M motherboard models (B450M PRO-M2 V2, B450M BAZOOKA, etc. etc.)

Yes as long as you have the newest BIOS it should work with your 3700x.
