I am going to need to upgrade my motherboard in the future, which means I'm going to have to reinstall windows 10. I came from Windows 7 and took the upgrade, so it's was digital and updated from an already existing installed version of windows. I don't have a disk with windows 10 on it because it was downloaded via Microsoft updates when it was being offered. How do I reinstall windows 10 if I don't actually "have" windows 10.(exe) or whatever the main file is? I have a legit key and everything I just don't know how to accomplish reinstalling if I don't have anything for the pc to install from. I'm confused.

For the OS activation, read and do this before you change any parts:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change
https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/windows-build-1607-and-activation.2786960/

Your "license key" from the earlier WIn 7 is of no consequence. You now have a digital license for the Win 10. This is stored at the mothership.

You create your own WIn 10 USB installer here:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
