Removing one drive from a RAID 1 configuration

I currently have my system set up on a RAID 1 configuration, but I would like to remove one of the drives, wipe it, and use it in another PC. Is it possible to do this without backing up the data from the other drive which will remain in the current PC?

I think I can re-ask my question in another way:

If I Ctrl + I as my system boots up, and change my RAID 1 to a non-RAID array, will I truly lose the data on the two drives? Or, will I now have 2 separate drives with identical data?
