Just downloaded rendermonkey from ati's website, looked at a few demos, pretty cool. But I don't get the coding, how the hell do you use this thing? What does it do? Anybody got any ideas? People please download the program, then try to open the depth of field, i've clicked open a while ago, and it's still creating renderable textures...

It's a development tool for software developers. If you're not developing software, it's pretty much useless to you, mate.

If you want to learn more about Rendermonkey best source is 3Dlabs. They do more of the white paper and learning material than ATI. Both are partners in it, but 3Dlabs documentation is quite extensive.

There is also Renderman by PIXAR, but it's a pretty penny.

nV of course has their Cg language incorporating all of these features for their view. 3Dlabs' and Ati's rendermonkey is more flexible and supposedly more OGL friendly.
