Gigabyte z690 Aorus Pro
MSI 3080 Gaming Trio X
32 GB 5200mhz DDR5 Kingston Fury
Evga 1000watt Platinum P5
3 WD850 SSD drives. 1 Samsung 1tb EVO sata drive

Issues
PC would have random shut downs

PC would power cycle on reboot

PC would need multiple attempt to enter bios

PC would crash and bsod to critical fatal error and would not recover through windows tools and recovery. It would also not recognize the OS drive and points toward a different hd on the PC though the OS drive is viewable on the bios list of Hard Drives.. and shows up when I use CMD to list disk and check volumes, in cmd SanDisk and recovery and repair commands run and complete but it never fixes the issue and after it says fixed it never enters Windows on boot just returns to critical BSOD and I have to completely reinstall windows

SFC Scan is always finding corrupt files

PC had weird hardware warnings and errors (PCI Express Root port Event 17 WHEA logger) DCOM, Kernel errors, application popop up error events, in event log even with a fresh install. The event viewer is a mess of errors and warnings

PC would got really hot the other night before the last fatal crash, without warning it the fans speed up to 100% and the system froze and crashed in under one min.

The Ethernet connection on the PC stalls in downloads, there are numerous DCOM errors and warnings in Event Viewer.. I have to resort to using the onboard Wifi 6 which I've never had an issue with.

The power profile on the PC sometimes randomly changes..

Remedies
I've run all the various cmd functions checkdisk, SFC Scan, DISM, Bootrec

Reinstalled fresh operating system

Updated bios

Used only default bios settings no overclock, removed Memory XMP and used default

Reseated Ram, Reseated Video Card, Reseated CPU Fan, replugged in all motherboard, cpu and gpu power connectors

Checked to make sure PSU fan is running

Ran memtest86 for 5 cycles, Windows memory tool- no errors

Run Intel's CPU Diagnostics Tool- All Passed

Installed Windows on different and brand new SSD, same issues occur

Run Extended SMART tests, no errors

Updated all drivers using Intel update

Rolled Bios back and forth

Run various stress tests like Cinibemch, Aida64, PassMark etc.. no issues on full load.. granted I didn't run them for days but for 2-3 hours nothing abnormal, no heat issues, no weird voltage stuff I could see, fans ran perfectly, on full stress CPU didn't go past 72c. GPU didn't go past 65c

The case has excellent airflow

So I'm hoping it's the Motherboard because I've got so many issues that it's probably not the PSU and if it were the CPU or ram it would be more obvious in CPU and system bench testing but I'm not completely sure.. It is a rev 1.0 motherboard. I just don't know what other tests I can perform, other than changing out hardware which is going to be absurdly expensive for me.. I'm starting with the MB I can't think of anything. I also can't duplicate the issues at will because they are random and the system could run perfectly for a couple of days before all the issues start, I monitor HardwareInfo heavily and then BOOM critical fatal failure BSOD.. reboot, power cycling, black screen, eventually it gets me into the Bsod screen and reboots again, windows trouble shooter, nothing works, it doesn't allow me to choose a restore point, says it can't fix the system.. no CMD functions repair it and I have to perform a fresh install and everything works like a charm, until it does not.

This is not my first build, I've never seen these issues and the fact that the hardware failure is random is making it impossible for me to determine what it is that needs to be replaced. I'm completely without a clue at this point.. any help would be appreciated

Critical process died isn't specific enough for me to guess what cause might be. It only happens to Microsoft system files, but they can relate to boot, logon or simply running PC. If any of them crash, windows has no choice but to follow

Have you tried installing on a different drive?

Its not normal for that specific BSOD to happen on multiple installs, it likely means hardware of some sort

So its not making dumps as you can't restart PC after it happens?
if so, this is no use:
Can you follow option one on the following link - here - and then do this step below: Small memory dumps - Have Windows Create a Small Memory Dump (Minidump) on BSOD - that creates a file in c windows/minidump after the next BSOD

  1. Open Windows File Explore
  2. Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
  3. Copy the mini-dump files out onto your Desktop
  4. Do not use Winzip, use the built in facility in Windows
  5. Select those files on your Desktop, right click them and choose 'Send to' - Compressed (zipped) folder
  6. Upload the zip file to the Cloud (OneDrive, DropBox . . . etc.)
  7. Then post a link here to the zip file, so we can take a look for you . . .
SFC Scan is always finding corrupt files
makes me wonder
Did you run this on WD drives? https://support.wdc.com/downloads.aspx?p=279

shame the intel processor diagnostic tool still doesn't know what your CPU is.
If you ran it, it would fail on 2 lines.
intel processor diagnostic tool will fail CPU at the BrandString line

https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/brand-string-fail-test/td-p/560045
as it doesn't know what the 12000 series is yet.
I have seen it do it twice in recent weeks -but it will also fail the requred Frequency test as it doesn't know what CPU is, so hard to know what is required

PCI Express Root port Event 17 WHEA logger
have any more info on this?

Hey thanks For replying..
The Intel processor diagnostic tool does not give me a single fail.. It definitely identifies everything about my processor, not a single line fail but it skips frequency because it says it doesn't have a comparison, I've looked at my frequencies manually though they look perfectly where they should be.. no throttling at all unless I keep speedshift enabled

Also all my SSD's are latest firmware.. I've run memtest86 for 5 cycles twice not a single error.. PSU voltages on stress tests are pretty on the button as well. In fact I can run Aida64 for an hour or 2 with no crashes or hiccups.. cool and smooth, The GPU is ice cold as well no heat issues from it. Great airflow, after load stress tests temps quickly fall.

I cant get the Bsod crash log because the only way I can get back into windows when it gives me the Bsod after some power cycling, a black screen, 2 reboots and a fresh system install.. I've been through the same exact process 4 times now

Please Read my last post..
I really believe this is Motherboard issue, I just need fresh eyes on the problem before I install a new motherboard which I am getting tomorrow. I'd like to limit the new hardware I'm getting because my stuff is slightly pricey.. ugg I have a bad feeling about the revision 1 Gigabyte boards. The first one I got from them was faulty with a few missing pins and had to be sent back and this was the replacement. The problems have been ongoing. The reason I think its the motherboard as well is I have weird event log warnings and critical's about other stuff associated with the motherboard and issues with the Ethernet and intermittent wifi cut offs with my mouse

The Event 17 WHEA Logger error say a component hardware failure related to PCI Express Root Port #1
An issue with port comes up in Warnings and Errors

if you have tested everything else in the pc, then it probably is the Motherboard. We can't be certain as there are no tests for motherboards.
I cannot identify exactly what device was at fault with event viewer

have you run this to confirm you have newest Intel drivers as cause could be a driver - https://www.intel.com.au/content/www/au/en/support/intel-driver-support-assistant.html
I apologize I was ignorant to the forum rules. thanks for your input..
Yes I've used Intel Drive support Assistant and it offers only a bluetooth driver and a Graphics driver for my onboard chip.. it does not help.
I'm just out of ideas, my newest reinstall of windows gets high marks on PassMark, Can run stable on Aida64 for an hour with not a single hiccup, Cinibench no problems
My drives are working fine.. nothing, I cant find an issue.. No heat issues, good airflow, psu power seems to be fine and is all pretty close to there target voltages,
The board definitely has an issue with the Ethernet connection but that should not create a critical BSOD, its definitely a power related issue regarding the boards power regulators I think.
I reseated the CPU and reapplyed new past and reset the AIO cooler
My system heat is all pretty perfect but what happens is I get a hang and the PC freezes, the heat quickly rises and my fans spin on full.. the fans work but a second later my pc reboots and once past bios (usually I have to reboot the PC multiple times after the crash just to get past bios as it power cycles.. I end up with the BSOD Critical system error and then into Troubleshooter which can never recover and i need a fresh install to reenter windows

Sounds like you need to contact Gigabyte and arrange an rma of motherboard, they might have some other suggestions
Yeah I've been waiting 4 days already for a gigabyte tech support response.. I actually have a brand new MSI Z690 board sitting in my house as we speak, I was just hoping I wouldn't need it.. Frankly I can't be without a pc for literal weeks while they fix my board (A brand new $300 board thats barely 4 months old I might add) This is the second attempt with this Gigabyte MB I've had since the first one I bought came with broken socket pins right out the box.. yeah their quality control and Customer service are a dumpster fire, I'm seriously suspicious of their Rev 1 models becuase their BIOs are always awful. I'll probably throw this board against a wall and move on or send it back and sell the one the factory sends me back on Ebay or something but probably not because I bet they will expect me to pay shipping to send their garbage back to them.. Very frustrating. Thanks though for trying to be of help I very much appreciate it

could try running Ubuntu on a USB drive and see if it has any similar problems - https://ubuntu.com/tutorials/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#1-overview

Not sure ubuntu will help because its only doing this when gaming and synthetic Stress test do not cash the system at all and when not gaming the system is very stable

I'm nearly certain I know what the issue is, its now trying to find out the exact component failure that's causing me the major headache

I'm pretty sure there is an issue with the PCI Express Root port #1. Event 411 Kernel-PnP error keeps occuring and causing Event 41 Task Catagory 63.. associate with Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7AB8&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_11\3&11583659&0&E0..
Which is that express port, it seems other people have had this issue and usually have to relocate the GPU out of the 4.0 PCI E slot and into a 3.0 PCI E slot but I can not becuase for one my GPU wont fit in my boards 3.0 slot to test it because the 3080 cards are too big..
What I think is happening is that the PCI Express port is both under and over volting the card eventually losing power and causing a reboot in the case of undervolting or a freeze and crash regarding the over volting issue that bsod my screen and somehow affects the SSD and wipes it out which is why I am pretty sure this is a motherboard issue becuase there is a couple of other issue with this board such as problematic Ethernet and weird seDevice PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_7AB8&SUBSYS_50011458&REV_11\3&11583659&0&E0 had a problem starting. also a ton of Event Viewer warnings I've never seen particularity on the Event logging service and other stuff. I'm sorta ruling out the PSU at this point, the Ram checks out in every Memtest86 test so its probably not memory related, the cpu checks out.. I just updated to the newest Gigabyte Bios and it did not fix the issue.. Gonna swap out the motherboard when I have time and cross my fingers though its going to be depressing if it does not fix it, meaning its another component.. I have a MSI Z690 A Pro I don't see myself trying to overclock the system outside of my memory XMP anyway so I think it will be fine.
Gigabyte Tech support though is useless.. I'm on day 5 and no answer not to mention like I said before this is already a replacement board from amazon after the first board they sent me was defective and came with broken pins.. I'm not feeling love and confidence in Gigabyte right now and that they are going to want me to pay to ship them back a board I only bought in July is really rubbing me the wrong way concerning them.
