my AMD OPGA8 (Radeon HD6450) failed (heat sink warped, card non functional) I need to replace the card. I'd like at least the same 1GB and (1) display port and (1) DVI-D (but I'd really like 2gb and at least (2) DP's so I have options on my monitors) 320w PS, i7 win7Pro, 16gb ram rest I can't remember since I can't turn it on... I see a NVIDIA Quadro K2000 that looks like it would do the job, will it work? better option? Thanks, Ben

I've got one of these. It does not need the 6 pin power. It's pretty good. Has the DVI-D and the display port.

A 1050 could also be a good option if you'd like. They also have display port and DVI-D

This also does not need the 6 pin power. Both are fairly decent. The 1050 scores higher in synthetic benchmarks but both are within 5-7 fps of each...

It is the full size tower, not the low profile, and I'm not as much worried about cost as much as having it die again... The laptop sucks when you are used to (2) 34" widescreen monitors! I don't have "external" power available from the HP power supply; all plugs are used up so the card needs to be low power......

Thanks for the recommendation but I don't think this one will work for me. My power supply is only 320 watt (recommendation from manufacturer is minimum 400 watt) and I do not have an available 6 pin plug for power... Thanks though. B

Both will play games like fortnite. GTA V etc. Some games will perform better on the RX 550 because it has 4gb of vram opposed to the 2gb on the 1050. On some games the 1050 works better because it has more processing units. There is a version of the 1050 with 4gb of vram but it is quite a bit more expensive. You could check it out on newegg though. I also don't think that one needs the 6 pin power either.

If you want better driver support on linux I'd definitely buy the Nvidia one because their proprietary drivers work better with more games than AMDGPU-PRO. Personally I use my integrated apu graphics for linux and pass my RX 550 to a KVM to play windows games. But ye. If you happen to be gaming natively on linux I'd definitely go with Nvidia over AMD.

A gpu without the 6 pin power can use a maximum of 70 watts of electricity. So we'll call it's power consumption 70watts. And I'm not familiar with that i7. So We'll call it 95 watts because that's worst case as well. 95+70 = 165. + 100 or so for mobo and HDD's and ram and whatever else (probably isn't even 100 but making sure we have alot of room) And you're still well within your psu's limit.
