So I got a dead DFI LanParty X38, an HD4870 1Gb, that might or might not work, looking for an equivalent replacement in today's day and age. Something around 150 but no higher than 200 bucks. What should i get?

DFI is no longer making boards. Here's a board on ebay that uses ddr2: http://www.ebay.com/itm/FREE-SHIPIING-Gigabyte-Technology-GA-X48-DS4-LGA775-Socket-Intel-Motherboard-/190604730974?pt=Motherboards&hash=item2c60ed625e. I wouldn't bid over $100 for it, since it's used. Newegg has very few boards left. Computer Geeks had three 965 chipset boards, but I couldn't confirm that they would work with your cpu.

Ok i probly didn't explain the best, but i dont want exact replacement parts, say i spent 150 on my DFI 2 years ago, I want to kno what the equivalent to whats available now today for $150 *new*. I just haven't been up on new stuff since i built my system, right when the Core i3/i5/i7's were just being talked about and LGA 775 was the standard intel socket. Just whats a good mobo these days?

x38 can use either ddr2 or ddr3. If the best board you can find uses ddr3, then go ahead and upgrade your ram if needed. 8 gb kits were only $30 today on cyber monday in the us. Newegg was out of p43 and p45 boards, so I checked ebay. g41 or g43 boards are adequate. IF you are going to change boards, why not just upgrade to 1155? Your q6600 is worth $90 used, and you could sell your ram also if it's ddr2.

yea im most definitly gonna go with 1155 and ddr3, and my ram is probably dead. My tower was on the basement floor when it flooded, just an inch, but just enough to kill my PSU and mobo for sure.
