I have a gtx 1060 PH-GTX1060-3G
I have a gtx 970 04G-P4-2974-KR.

I'd like to remove the heatsking / fans from both and put the ACX 2.0 cooler on the 1060. My 970 is dying and wont do anything over 750 core clock. My only concern is power draw from the fan header. I worry that its either going to consume too much and burn something out or it's not going to consume enough and not cool well enough. Any feedback is welcome but if someone can manage to get me schematics for the fan header that would likely tell me everything I need to know.

I reccomend watching a Youtube video because they provide explenation and picture. Removing the fan and heatsink on a GPU is most of the time always the same. Make sure you unplug the fan from the actual GPU itself to prevent it from breaking.

Ebosss03 thanks for the concern. I've done it many times on many gpu coolers. I'll be fine.

SkyNetRising: If the CPU screw holes are off then it's a no go. As far as the backplate, it's good for sag but unnecessary and I know those holes wont match up. I am too worried about the obstruction of PCB elements and will take caution when placing the cooler over the 1060 pcb.

What about the fan header power consumption?

I was figuring that was the way to go. I'll run a few benchmarks with the stock cooler then the acx 2.0 cooler and i'll post the logs of temp / voltage and see if there is a difference at all. Specifically on the voltage.
