In a few days I'm picking up a new laptop..I would like to remove the factory installed HDD and replace with a SSD..Should I remove the factory installed HDD before I start up for the very first time or should I startup the laptop before I replace with the SSD or does this matter.?..My goal here is to install the new SSD and then install OEM Win 7 from disc...any advice would be appreciated.

I've done it many times with Windows 7 and you just need to download all your drivers for the laptop, and if you don't get an installer disk, download a legit trial version from DIGITAL RIVER and burn it to a DVD or make a USB installer stick (with a 4Gb or larger stick) and the MICROSOFT TOOL to make a bootable stick from a disk image. Then activate using your Windows key that should be printed on the sticker on the bottom of the laptop.

It does not matter if you use the HDD for a while and then change to the SSD.
