I'm replacing my Asus Sabertooth X58 Board since its no longer booting (trusted me I've tried everything, its done) and my Xeon X5675 and was thinking about going to a newer 2011 or 1150 socket/board. Any recommendations that are the equivalent of the my previous setup that sub $400ish Used/New? :)
The rest of my setup is:
24GB Corsair Vengeance Ram
Nvidia GTX 770 Classified 4GB
1 TB SSD evo80
2x 4GB SSHD Seagate
Noctua14U cooling
NZXT Phantom 410 Mid size case
😀
**Since my Intel x5675 still work i thought about staying with 1366 socket board but since their so over price for a 1366 with 6gb/s Sata I thought I should move to a modern setup.
What do you guys think? :??:
Thx

**Edit: I use my PC for mostly Graphic Work (After effects, VizRT, Cinema3d) but I also play some games (MMOs mostly) **

4690K was my original suggestion until I saw the apps being run, they would benefit greatly from Hyperthreading
@Tradesman1 Trying to stay @ around $400 for the Board and processor. I willing to buy it used.

@Joseph DeGarmo How does the X99 Platform help in speed? What improvments over X97 or X79

This is the best upgrade for $400. Please note that upgrading to a new motherboard requires a new Windows license unless you own a full retail copy.

On another forum they were recommending i7-4930K (since i was willing to buy it used on ebay) and some x79 motherboard for about $100. They recommend the X79 platform over the Z97 platform for a workstation.

What do you guys think?

I do Motion Graphics work on Adobe After Effects and Photoshop. I also do 3d Graphics work on Cinema 4D, and something I play Final Fantasy 14 or other MMOs. I know After effect uses all the ram and CUDA cores I can throw at it.

Any opinons on the EVGA x79 FTW board vs the Asus Sabertooth x79 board?
Other than more DIMMS slots what else makes the Sabertooth x79 better or worse. I'm asking because the EVGA FTW is about $35 less.
